Myocare RMT Wellness - Leaside · Bayview & Eglinton
Fertility acupuncture in Leaside is available at Myocare RMT Wellness – Leaside, our clinic at 1517a Bayview Ave, a short walk from Bayview and Eglinton. Whether you are just beginning to try to conceive, have been trying for some time, or are preparing for IVF or IUI, acupuncture can be a supportive part of your care.
At Leaside, fertility acupuncture is provided by Anita Espanol, R.Ac, a Registered Acupuncturist who works with clients on fertility, menstrual health, and the stress that so often comes with trying to conceive. Treatment plans are individual and built around your cycle, your health history and, where relevant, your fertility clinic’s timeline. We serve clients from Leaside, Davisville, Moore Park, Thorncliffe Park and East York. Visit our Leaside location page for directions, hours, and contact details, or read our guide to acupuncture in Leaside and the Annex.
Cycle regulation and hormonal balance. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, fertility care starts with the menstrual cycle. Your acupuncturist will ask about cycle length, ovulation, bleeding patterns, pain and premenstrual symptoms, and treatment is often timed to different phases of your cycle to support regularity and overall hormonal balance.
Stress and the nervous system. Trying to conceive can be emotionally demanding. Acupuncture encourages a shift toward the “rest and digest” side of the nervous system, and many clients find their sessions a calm, grounding hour during a stressful time.
Circulation and pelvic health. Acupuncture is traditionally used to support healthy circulation to the pelvis and uterus. Your acupuncturist may also suggest lifestyle, sleep and nutrition approaches that support your treatment between sessions.
Male fertility support. Fertility is a shared journey, and male partners are welcome to book acupuncture as part of a couple’s overall fertility plan.
Many people pursuing IVF, IUI or other assisted reproductive technologies use acupuncture as a complementary support alongside their medical care. Acupuncture does not replace the care of your fertility clinic or physician. Instead, we work around your clinic’s schedule, for example with sessions in the weeks leading up to a cycle and around key dates such as egg retrieval and embryo transfer.
Please let your acupuncturist know your clinic’s protocol and medication schedule so treatment can be planned appropriately. We also recommend telling your fertility clinic that you are receiving acupuncture.
The intake. Your first visit begins with a detailed intake covering your cycle, reproductive history, any testing or treatment so far, sleep, digestion, energy and stress. Your acupuncturist may also look at your tongue and take your pulse, both of which inform a Traditional Chinese Medicine assessment.
The treatment. Acupuncture needles are very fine, and most people feel only a brief pressure or mild tingling on insertion. Needles are usually retained for 20 to 30 minutes while you rest, and many clients find the experience deeply relaxing.
How often. Fertility support is usually planned over several cycles rather than a single visit. Your acupuncturist will suggest a schedule that suits your goals, your cycle and, if applicable, your IVF or IUI timeline, and will review it with you as you go.
Many extended health benefit plans in Ontario include acupuncture under paramedical services. Coverage amounts and practitioner requirements vary by plan. Myocare offers direct billing to most major insurers at both our Leaside and Annex locations. If your plan resets on January 1, now is a good time to use your remaining coverage.
Fertility acupuncture is available at our Leaside clinic at 1517a Bayview Ave, East York, near Bayview and Eglinton, and at our Annex clinic at 1096 Bathurst Street. You can review our team of practitioners, book online, or call our Leaside clinic at (416) 265-9606.
Many people begin a few months before they plan to try to conceive or before an IVF cycle, because treatment is usually planned across several menstrual cycles. However, you are welcome to start at any point in your journey.
Yes. Acupuncture is commonly used alongside IVF. Share your clinic's protocol and key dates with your acupuncturist so sessions can be timed around them, and keep your fertility clinic informed about any complementary care you are receiving.
Please tell your acupuncturist right away. Certain acupuncture points are avoided during pregnancy, and your treatment will be adjusted. Many clients continue with perinatal acupuncture for support through pregnancy and postpartum.
